THE MARA

Which parts of the Maasai Mara can you visit?

The Maasai Mara National Reserve has two parts: the larger eastern side, run by Narok County, and the Mara Triangle west of the Mara River, managed by the Mara Conservancy. Around the Reserve, wildlife conservancies on Maasai community land have their own camps, fees and rules, and offer activities such as guided walks and night game drives.

We cover all of them: which park fees apply where, which areas suit the time of year you travel, and camps and lodges in the Reserve and the conservancies.

WHY BOOK WITH US

Why plan your safari with MaasaiMara.ke?

  • Based in Narok. We are in Narok County, home to the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
  • One contact for the whole trip. You plan with us by email, and one of our tour operator partners runs your safari, including your camp or lodge.
  • Planned around the season. We match your dates to the Great Migration, to the park fee seasons (January to June and July to December) and to the camps that are open.
  • Facts checked at the source. We check park fees and rules with the bodies that set them, such as Narok County and the Mara Conservancy, and update our pages when they change.
