Your amboseli naivasha maasai mara safari itinerary
Your Amboseli Naivasha Maasai Mara safari begins with the Nairobi-to-Amboseli journey and continues through Naivasha to four nights of Mara game drives. The Naivasha stop is an overnight break; a boat outing is not included.
Wildlife is free-ranging: sightings and migration crossings are not guaranteed. Your guide follows permitted routes and adapts viewing to conditions.
- Nairobi pickup
- Amboseli · two nights
- Naivasha · one night
- Mara · four nights
- Nairobi return

Day 1
Nairobi to Amboseli and an afternoon wildlife drive
Activities: Meet your private driver-guide at the agreed Nairobi pickup and travel to your selected Amboseli accommodation with the private driver-guide, taking the agreed lunch and road breaks along the way. Check in and settle into your room. When arrival and entry conditions allow, take an afternoon game drive on permitted Amboseli routes, then return for dinner. Use the first outing to watch wildlife and get to know the landscape before the full park day.
Wildlife to look for: Look for elephants and grazing zebra or buffalo, with birds around suitable habitats. Kilimanjaro views depend on cloud and weather, so the mountain backdrop is an opportunity rather than a fixed sighting.
Meals: Lunch · dinner
Stay: Confirmed Amboseli accommodation

Day 2
A full Amboseli day: elephants and contrasting habitats
Activities: Set out after breakfast for the planned Amboseli game drives with your dedicated guide and vehicle. Contrast open plains with accessible swamp and marsh edges, watching elephants and scanning for water-associated birds. Explore permitted routes through woodland or thornbush where practical, using these habitat changes to vary the day’s viewing. Break for lunch at the accommodation or use the agreed picnic arrangement to continue the route. Resume wildlife viewing in the afternoon before returning for dinner. The day stays within the included park programme; additional sanctuary or walking activities are separate arrangements.
Wildlife to look for: Look for elephant families, zebra, buffalo and birdlife. The changing Amboseli habitats provide different wildlife scenes, and Kilimanjaro may become visible when clouds clear. Every animal encounter remains dependent on the day's conditions.
Meals: Breakfast · lunch · dinner
Stay: Confirmed Amboseli accommodation

Day 3
Amboseli to Naivasha and an overnight break
Activities: Have breakfast and begin the substantial private road journey to the confirmed Naivasha accommodation. Take meal stops and suitable breaks with your driver-guide, then check in and relax before dinner. This day is reserved for transport, meals and the overnight stop ahead of the Mara journey. The base route includes no Naivasha boat outing, island walk or additional lake activity; extra lake time needs a revised itinerary and quote.
Expected sights: Watch the changing countryside on the road journey and enjoy the setting of your selected accommodation on arrival. No lake wildlife excursion is planned today.
Meals: Breakfast · lunch · dinner
Stay: Confirmed Naivasha accommodation

Day 4
Naivasha to the Mara and your first Mara drive
Activities: Leave after breakfast for the private road journey to the selected Mara camp, with lunch and suitable stops arranged along the way. Check in for your Mara stay and settle into the room. Take the planned introductory afternoon game drive if arrival and entry allow, pausing at wildlife encountered on permitted routes. Return to camp for dinner before the complete Mara wildlife days that follow.
Wildlife to look for: Look for zebra, giraffe, gazelles and elephants on the arrival drive. Buffalo or big cats may also be encountered; transfer-day viewing follows the time available after the journey.
Meals: Breakfast · lunch · dinner
Stay: Selected Mara camp

Day 5
Open-plains game drives and a full Mara wildlife day
Activities: Set out after breakfast for a private game drive across the open plains. Pause at grazing herds and spend time with any predators your guide locates. Break for lunch at camp or take a picnic when the agreed route suits a longer outing. Continue wildlife viewing in the afternoon, looking at different grassland areas before returning for dinner. Your guide chooses permitted routes around the day's sightings and your camp location.
Wildlife to look for: Look for zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, gazelles, elephants and buffalo. Lions, cheetahs and spotted hyenas are possible encounters. Resident wildlife remains the focus even outside the main migration period.
Meals: Breakfast · lunch · dinner
Stay: Selected Mara camp

Day 6
River wildlife and a contrasting full Mara day
Activities: Take a daytime drive towards an accessible river sector, with wildlife stops on the surrounding plains. Watch the water and banks from permitted viewing places, then explore nearby grassland and woodland routes with your guide. Use the planned picnic lunch or camp break to fit the route. In migration periods, spend time observing herds where they are present before continuing the afternoon drive and returning to camp.
Wildlife to look for: Look for hippos, crocodiles and waterbirds around the river, plus elephants or buffalo nearby. Zebra and wildebeest may gather on the plains; migration crossings depend on herd movements and conditions.
Meals: Breakfast · lunch · dinner
Stay: Selected Mara camp

Day 7
A third full Mara day: woodland edges and favourite sightings
Activities: Set out after breakfast with your private guide for game drives along accessible woodland edges and adjoining plains. Revisit productive areas from earlier drives and allow time to observe animals feeding, resting or interacting. Take the agreed picnic or camp lunch, then continue the afternoon drive before returning to camp for your final Mara dinner.
Wildlife to look for: Look for giraffe, elephants, buffalo and antelope around the woodland and plains, alongside raptors and other birdlife. Lions, leopards, cheetahs or hyenas may be encountered where your guide locates them; no named species is guaranteed.
Meals: Breakfast · lunch · dinner
Stay: Selected Mara camp

Day 8
Breakfast, checkout and the return to Nairobi
Activities: Have breakfast, check out and begin the direct early road journey to Nairobi. Take suitable road breaks, then continue to the agreed drop-off; lunch is not included. This standard departure is a transfer day, with no game drive or departure-day Reserve entry. Inside camps follow the confirmed early-exit and sector conditions; outside camps return without entering. A final morning drive can be added only through a separate quote covering applicable entry and revised logistics, subject to the return itinerary.
Expected sights: Enjoy changing countryside along the road journey. No Reserve wildlife viewing is planned today; the focus is your Nairobi return and any agreed onward connection.
Meals: Breakfast; lunch not included
Stay: Safari ends at the agreed Nairobi drop-off

Amboseli, the lake and the wildlife plains

Choose your season with care
Different destinations and properties have different seasonal conditions and tariffs. Plan the circuit around the whole journey rather than a promised mountain view or Mara crossing. Amboseli and the Mara can each offer wildlife interest without a particular photographed scene.
Prices vary by season. Accommodation tariffs, entry charges and selected experiences are costed for the actual dates. Read the seasonal travel guides for wider Mara context.

Details that make the trip work
Road travel and the overnight break
The Amboseli Naivasha Maasai Mara safari is a road circuit with substantial journeys between destinations. Day 3 is allocated to the transfer to Naivasha, meal stops and settling in. The overnight divides the onward route; it does not turn that day into a short journey and does not include a boat outing. A boat trip or island visit would require a separately agreed itinerary and quote.
The operator validates the actual roads, hotel locations and departure arrangements before booking. Give any international connections and mobility or rest needs when planning the trip. Additional lake time, a flight connection or an extra overnight can be considered through a revised itinerary and quote, rather than silently changing the road plan.
Private viewing at different properties
Your confirmed road transfers and wildlife drives remain private to the party. Some premium camps publish rates with shared vehicles or excursions; those shared services do not replace the dedicated wildlife vehicle in this safari. Any private supplement, guide handover and compulsory property charge belongs in the complete offer.
The base Mara portion does not assume a private Mara conservancy stay or access. A selected Amboseli-area property may have a compulsory sanctuary or conservation levy, which is included when applicable to that actual stay. The quote explains its location and included viewing rather than apply one destination’s rules to every overnight.
Meal plans and accommodation at each stop
The seven safari overnights are two in Amboseli, one in Naivasha and four in the Mara. Day 1 includes lunch and dinner; the following safari nights use the meals shown beside each day. Day 8 includes breakfast and direct return; road lunch is excluded.
The specific camp/lodge will be named in the quote. The quote also confirms rooms and board plans at every stop. Premium drinks, special hosted meals and personal purchases are included only when stated.
Departure day: breakfast and the direct return
The standard road departure includes breakfast, checkout and the direct early return to Nairobi. It includes no departure-morning game drive or departure-day Reserve entry. Outside camps return without entering; inside camps follow the confirmed early-exit and sector conditions without game viewing. A previous day’s ticket does not automatically cover the next day, and free departure is not assumed.
A final morning drive costs extra, including applicable entry and changed guiding or transfer costs. It must fit the return journey and appear in the written quote. Final-day road lunch and late checkout are excluded. Share your onward flight details so the return can be planned realistically.
Your private safari and chosen camp
Scheduled ground transfers, wildlife drives, vehicle and professional guiding are private to your party. Some properties use a separate private camp vehicle and guide after a handover. Dining rooms, pools and other communal areas may be shared with other guests; exclusive use of the camp is a separate arrangement.
The quote names the property, room and board plan. Camp location affects which wildlife areas are practical to reach. Accommodation photographs illustrate the style of stay rather than a guaranteed room. A family room, single supplement, accessible room or adapted vehicle must be confirmed for the actual party; a comfort tier alone does not establish these facilities.
Meals, drinks and time at camp
The meals listed for each itinerary day are included. A packed lunch can replace camp lunch on an agreed longer outing; it is taken at a permitted stopping place. Bottled drinking water is included. House drinks and laundry follow the selected camp’s quoted package; premium drinks and personal purchases are extra unless listed.
Tell us about allergies, dietary requirements and preferred rest breaks before booking. A specially hosted bush meal is included only when named in this itinerary; an ordinary picnic does not imply a separately hosted dining experience.
Wildlife, river routes and seasonal interests
Mara drives explore grassland, woodland edges and accessible river habitats according to your camp location and interests. Grazing herds, elephants, birds and predators offer different subjects; named animals, hunts and repeat encounters cannot be guaranteed. River outings depend on a practical route and permitted access, rather than being an automatic visit to every crossing point.
Migratory herds respond to rainfall and grazing, and a river crossing has no fixed timetable. Outside the migration period, drives focus on resident wildlife. Your guide follows the applicable routes and viewing rules; private transport gives you a flexible pace, not unrestricted access. See the migration guide when choosing dates.
Packing, entry documents and onward travel
Bring layers, comfortable footwear, sun and insect protection, familiar binoculars or camera equipment, and protection from dust and rain. Keep essential medication and travel documents accessible. Discuss mobility needs before selecting the camp and vehicle. Check nationality-specific entry requirements and exemptions through Kenya’s eTA portal; document charges and comprehensive travel, medical and evacuation insurance are outside the package price.
Additional Nairobi accommodation and ground transfers outside the listed itinerary are separate unless expressly included. The return plan must allow for road travel, airport transfers and onward check-in requirements.
Optional extras and your complete written quote
Prices vary by season. The displayed From amounts are adult per-person sharing starting prices, not a child rate or a total for the whole family. Dates, accommodation availability, party size and rooming determine the final offer. Scheduled entry and compulsory selected-property charges belong in the quoted total; optional extras are identified separately.
An optional balloon flight normally uses a shared basket, even on a private ground safari. Eligibility, weather decisions and cancellation or rescheduling terms follow the selected operator. Community visits, spa treatments and other additions are included only when expressly listed.
MaasaiMara.ke quotes and books through authorised tour operator partners. You pay the operator named in the written offer, which plans and fulfils the trip. Review the named accommodation, meals, transport, access, payment and cancellation terms before confirming.
Share arrival and onward travel, dates, party size, rooming and preferred accommodation. Your written circuit quotation will include each hotel, camp, private transfer, listed meal and compulsory selected-route charge.

Dates, selected accommodation, rooming and party size determine your written quote. Family starting figures are adult references, not whole-family totals. Circuit starting prices cover the listed itinerary across four accommodation levels; your dates determine the final seasonal quote.
Each itinerary specifies accommodation, private ground transport, professional tour guide, listed meals, scheduled entry and compulsory selected-property charges. Scheduled flights are included in fly-in packages; the selected shared balloon flight is included in the balloon itinerary. Tips and gratuities, personal insurance and unnamed extras are excluded.
