Staying at Sala’s Camp

Sala’s Camp places glass-fronted tents and private plunge pools beside the Sand River in the southern Reserve. Ordinary double or twin tents include shared game drives; the family tents have separate whole-unit rates and exclusive vehicle arrangements. The supporting base requires a two-night stay. Daily park, bed-night and rhino-conservation charges are extra, along with flights, road transfers and a guaranteed private vehicle for an ordinary tent. Use our Reserve entry guide, Mara flight guide and safari cost guide to choose the arrival and budget. Keekorok is the designated airstrip for included camp transfers.

Rooms & tent types

Double / twin tents with plunge pools

5 units

Double or twin arrangement; extra bed on request · Private en-suite bathroom

Keekorok Tent and Forest Tents are ordinary luxury tents with a private plunge pool and deck, bath, plumbed-in shower and flushing toilet. These are the room category supporting the two-adult sharing base, with shared game drives.

Keekorok Family Tent

1 units

Family arrangement with separate bedrooms · Private en-suite bathroom

Family accommodation with private plunge pool and deck. Its separate whole-unit rate has its own occupancy terms and includes exclusive vehicle use. It is not priced by dividing the ordinary tent base.

Forest Family Tent

1 units

Two bedrooms configurable as double or twin · Private en-suite bathroom

A family tent with plunge pool and sunken seating. Privacy between bedrooms is limited; the operator recommends it for families rather than two couples. Its whole-unit tariff and exclusive vehicle inclusion differ from the ordinary tents.

Seven guest tents in total: five ordinary luxury tents and two family tents. Honeymoon descriptions refer to selected tents within that inventory, not extra units. The photographs show camp accommodation features and do not promise a specific room allocation. Room requests and extra beds require confirmation. The waterbuck photograph is general Maasai Mara safari context, not a sighting at Sala’s Camp or a room view.

Plan the journey

Location & arrival

The setting

Inside the main Maasai Mara National Reserve, beside the Sand River in the southern part of the Reserve close to the Tanzanian border. The camp is in the Southern Low Use Zone. It is not a private conservancy stay and does not provide unrestricted access across the border into Tanzania.

Gate & airstrip access

Fly to Keekorok Airstrip for the included camp transfers; confirm the actual flight routing and baggage rules with the carrier. Flights are extra.

For road arrival from Nairobi, the operator recommends Sekenani Gate. Roads within the Reserve can be rough and weather affects access; agree the route and vehicle in advance. Road transfers cost extra.

Coordinate arrival and departure with the applicable Reserve admission and camp arrangements. Afternoon departures are restricted by season and can add accommodation and park/conservation charges; do not assume a late departure is included.

Good to know

Families & children

Children of all ages are welcome. The supplier accommodation tariff treats ages 3–15 as children, ages 16 and above as adults, and ages 2 and under as infants. Extra beds require advance confirmation; a child extra-bed rate has a narrower age range than the general child sharing rate. Family tents offer a different room and vehicle arrangement. Give every child’s age when requesting the stay. Parents and guardians must supervise children around plunge pools, decks, the river and wildlife; camp activities and nature walks depend on suitability and guide approval. No childcare service is promised.

Accessibility

Tell us about mobility, bathroom and vehicle-boarding needs before booking. Raised timber decks and a natural riverside setting need a room-specific assessment. Discuss room access and the required support before confirming the stay.

Rates & booking

The ordinary tent rate includes shared drives. Family tents have different whole-unit rates and exclusive vehicle use; a private vehicle for an ordinary tent must be booked separately and is subject to availability. Our complete private safari quote specifies dedicated guiding and authorised transport, including scheduled compulsory Reserve and selected-property charges. Minimum stays and departure terms depend on the selected tariff. A booking request does not confirm a room or price. A complete private safari is arranged through our authorised tour operator partners. You pay the tour operator, which plans and fulfils the safari; the written itinerary sets out its inclusions and compulsory charges.
