Staying at Governors' Camp

Governors’ Camp offers river-facing Luxury Tents and family accommodation with connected double and twin bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms and a shared living space. Dining and bar areas provide places to relax between Reserve outings. The camp is unfenced, and staff movement and escort rules apply after dark. Family tents have a separate whole-tent tariff. Luxury Tent

Canvas tent overlooking the river, with a private veranda and en-suite bathroom. The base tariff uses two adults sharing a standard Luxury Tent; child arrangements and preferred bed layout need a specific booking confirmation.

Family Tent

Bedrooms connect through a shared living area. Each bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom and veranda facing the plains. An extra bed can accommodate a third child by arrangement. Whole-tent family pricing differs from the standard adult sharing tariff.

The total includes the family tents. Family accommodation has a whole-tent tariff; do not multiply the standard Luxury Tent amount into an assumed family total. The Justus product is individually quoted and is not added as an extra unit to the current inventory. Ordinary power, drinking water and housekeeping are available.

Location & arrival

The setting

On the banks of the Mara River beside Musiara Marsh, inside the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The camp is unfenced, and wildlife can move through its grounds. Follow the arrival briefing and staff escort arrangements, particularly after dark.

Gate & airstrip access

Fly-in arrival: Musiara Airstrip serves Governors’ Camp; the standard lodge tariff includes transfers between this airstrip and camp. Scheduled flights and charter flights are separately charged.

Public gate nearby: Musiara Gate serves this northern Reserve sector. The road approach and Reserve entry depend on the itinerary; the gate journey time is not fixed.

Road arrival: Private road transfers are separate arrangements. Staying inside the Reserve does not include Park or compulsory Community fees in the base lodge amount.

Families & children

Children of all ages are welcome. Accommodation child rates apply below sixteen; infants below three stay free under the supplier’s accommodation policy. This does not waive every compulsory charge. Family tents combine a double bedroom and twin bedroom, with a third child’s extra bed by arrangement. Babysitting, high chairs and early meals are available. The camp is unfenced: children need supervision and the staff’s movement and escort rules.

Accessibility

Camp paths, tent access, bathrooms and safari vehicles require individual mobility and transfer assessment. A step-free or wheelchair-accessible room specification has not been established.

Rates & booking

The starting amount is a non-peak standard Luxury Tent tariff, not a complete private safari price. Rates depend on travel dates, tent product, party size and compulsory charges. Family tents use a whole-tent amount; single occupancy and child accommodation have separate terms. Our private safari includes dedicated guiding, transport and the scheduled compulsory charges together.
