Staying at Basecamp Maasai Mara

Basecamp Maasai Mara’s refurbished accommodation includes River View Tents, a Honeymoon Tent and Family Tents with separate sleeping wings. Its Talek River setting combines shaded camp grounds with an agreed safari route into the Reserve. The ground package uses shared game drives; a dedicated vehicle and compulsory visitor charges need their own arrangements. Follow staff guidance at night around camp. Honeymoon Tent

Larger riverside tent with a private deck and views towards the Reserve. Its position and layout differ from the ordinary River View category.

Family Tents

Separate sleeping wings with double beds · Private en-suite bathroom

Two sleeping wings and shared bathroom arrangements, with a larger private balcony. The family-tent tariff has a minimum four-person basis and child/occupancy terms; it is not a two-adult River View booking.

The 17 guest units comprise 14 River View Tents, one Honeymoon Tent and two Family Tents. Family wings are components of the family unit and do not increase the count. Current rooms have been refurbished. The gallery illustrates the footbridge and wider safari setting; it does not show current bedroom interiors. Housekeeping is available.

Location & arrival

The setting

On community land beside the Talek River, bordering the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The river forms the Reserve boundary; the camp overlooks the Reserve rather than being a private conservancy stay. Riverbank trees, a footbridge and nearby Talek community life shape the setting.

Gate & airstrip access

Fly-in arrival: Ol Kiombo Airstrip serves this Talek-area camp. The flight and meeting point form part of the arrival arrangement. The ground package includes return airstrip transfers; flights are separate.

Road arrival: The Talek approach and Reserve entry depend on the departure point and drive programme.

Visitor charges: Reserve entry fees are extra to the lodge ground package and payable for the nights of the stay under the supplier terms. A stay beside the Reserve does not remove entry charges for the scheduled safari programme.

Families & children

Children of all ages are welcome. Family tents have separate sleeping wings; child accommodation terms depend on age, room choice and sharing arrangements. Young Explorers family activities are available on request and booked ahead. Parents and guardians remain responsible for supervision; a family activity programme does not establish a staffed childcare facility. Guided trail activities and balloon flights have their own eligibility rules.

Accessibility

The current operator page identifies accessible tents and accessible reception and Enjoolata Centre entrances, with some other tents reached by low stairs. Describe wheelchair dimensions, bathroom assistance, steps and vehicle-transfer needs so a suitable tent and route can be allocated. The suspension bridge is not evidence that every camp path is step-free.

Rates & booking

The lodge ground package includes shared camp game drives. It does not include an exclusive vehicle or all compulsory visitor charges. Our complete private safari includes dedicated transport and guiding for the party and scheduled compulsory visitor charges. Rates depend on room category, travel dates, occupancy, family configurations and optional services.
