Private charters use an agreed departure time and route rather than a fixed public Mara timetable. Aircraft availability, safe operating conditions and the destination airstrip govern the confirmed programme. The charter quotation establishes the individual flight timings.

Scenic Air Safaris routes and connections

Scenic Air arranges bespoke flying connections between safari camps, game lodges and beach destinations across its regional network. A Mara itinerary can combine Nairobi with other safari regions instead of returning to a scheduled hub for every move. The published Scenic Wilderness product also advertises a Laikipia–Mara shared service; its current departure and seat availability need a specific booking.

The published aircraft selection includes executive Cessna Grand Caravans configured for approximately nine or eleven passengers and a Cessna 206 Stationair suited to a smaller party. Seating layouts vary by aircraft. King Air options are also advertised for suitable routes, but a larger aircraft’s presence in the fleet does not establish suitability for every Mara airstrip.

Scenic Air Safaris baggage and equipment

Scenic Air publishes a 15 kg per-person luggage guideline for the featured bush aircraft. The practical payload also depends on the party’s weight, route and operating conditions. Provide approximate luggage weights when requesting the flight, especially for photographic equipment. A private aircraft still has finite baggage space and a safe operating load.

Airport arrival and check-in

The charter confirmation establishes the departure airport, meeting point and reporting time. Nairobi Wilson and JKIA are separate airports; any proposed direct JKIA connection must be expressly included in the charter arrangement. The camp’s airstrip pickup and the aircraft’s landing point should be agreed together.

Land near your Maasai Mara camp

A charter landing strip is chosen around the camp’s location, runway suitability and agreed aircraft. The shortest flight does not always produce the easiest ground transfer. Your booking should identify the airstrip, camp collection and any onward drive together.

Scenic Air Safaris ticket and charter conditions

The quotation should identify the operating carrier, aircraft configuration, all flying sectors and any positioning or waiting costs. If the aircraft drops your party and returns later, the return itinerary is part of the costing. International routes require approved entry and exit points and immigration arrangements; a private charter does not remove these formalities.

Scenic Air’s executive cabins offer a different environment from a standard scheduled bush flight. The exact seating, cabin amenities and baggage allowance belong to the selected aircraft. A flying safari package can also include accommodation and ground arrangements; its package price must not be compared with a flight-only charter amount.
